Instructions for Using the Most Current ORS Laws

NOTE: These details are provided when you really want to take your research to the next-level to ensure that you are using the most current updates to the published laws at all times (currently the 2017 edition is the most recent ORS publication).  The 2017 version was published in early 2018.  This version does not include bills signed into law in 2017.

The ORS (Oregon Statue Law) is published every two years. Each edition incorporates all laws, and changes to laws, enacted by the Legislative Assembly through the odd-numbered year regular session referenced in the volume titles for that edition.  For example, the 2017 edition was published in early 2018, and the 2019 edition will be the next edition published in early- to mid-2020.  If new legislative sessions meet and enact new laws or revise other laws (and the MHC works to update and improve floating home legislation at every legislative session as much as possible) just prior to or after the most-recent version is published, you will have to use the process below to ensure that you have all of the most up-to-date changes to the laws  from recent legislative sessions.

**However, if you just want to read and understand 99.5% of the current laws, you can use the most current 2017 editions without all of the supplemental research.  But, if you are experiencing  a legal issue, we strongly encourage you to make sure that you are working with the most current and up-to-date edition with its supplements.***

INSTRUCTIONS for supplementing the 2017 edition of the OREGON LAWS with the most current laws just passed in 2017 and 2018 legislative sessions. (note: these instructions detail how to update the 2015 edition with the 2016 laws, however, the process is the same. The government has not yet published the updated instructions and links as of April 2018.)
